Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir: The Mercedes cars of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg look set to go into the Australian Grand Prix as short-priced favourites unless next week’s second four-day testing session in Bahrain can spring a surprise.
Red Bull Racing was again confined to the garage on the final day of first week testing, with Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo only able to complete 15 laps and running 7th fastest with a time of one minute 39.837 seconds, having started late and finished early.
After admitting on Friday it was frustrating to be sitting in the garage and not getting the laps he needed in the car, Riccardo and Red Bull packed up shop early as they looked ahead to the the second week of testing.
In contrast, Rosberg ran a seemingly faultless 89 laps, reeling off the week’s best lap time of one minute 33.238 seconds around the 5.412 kilometre circuit.
